Seeking partners to develop atmospheric plasma technology for wafer and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) surfaces

A Korean company manufactures modules and generators for plasma is seeking partners to develop atmospheric pressure plasma technology for remote-type generators. The technology that the company desires to develop is about atmospheric plasma which is valuable in the field of surface finishing industry. The technology is used for processing the wafer and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) surfaces. The type of partnership sought is based on research cooperation agreement and licensing agreement.

A Korean manufacturer which is specialized in the key parts for metal passivation such as remote plasma generators (RPG) is competitive in the global market based on the localization of the equipment in Korea; although the rate of dependence on imports related with atmospheric plasma in the current Korean market is relatively high.

The technology that the company wants to develop by cooperation is atmospheric plasma technology. The technology is for cleaning, activating and coating on the wafer and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) surfaces. Based on dry-coating technique, the technology would allow the passivation process to become simple.

The aim of the technology is to solve the main drawbacks while enhancing the advantages of the existing way of metal passivation in the semiconductor industry. The company expects to enhance technological competitiveness in the market based on localizing the atmospheric plasma technology. Furthermore, simplified production process and components would reduce the cost of production with the increase of productivity. The company expects to develop the dry-coating technique based on technology. Nano-layer on the surface made by the technology would support coating process to be easy and effective.

The type of partnership would be based on both cooperative research and licensing agreement. The company wants to find partners to apply existing products with advanced technology for fulfilling the market demands.

Partner expertise sought:

- Type of partner sought: Atmospheric plasma technology allows being used to create Nano-layers on other materials such as plastics, metals, and glasses to improve the surface making it suitable for new applications. Surface cleaning and coating by atmospheric plasma treatment requires fewer production components so the cost of production would be reduced. Another characteristic is that this technology would supply dry-coating technique. The technique enhances the productivity based on the simplified process of cleaning and coating on surfaces.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: - Type of partner sought: Technological SME or large enterprise preferably with experience in consortium
- Specific area of activity of the partner: Any partner specialized in the plasma technologies in the field of surface treatment especially in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
- Task to be performed: Cooperative partnership is necessary based on the research cooperation agreement and licensing agreement. Partners are necessary to own the specialty about the technology related with atmospheric plasma. Through joint development, the company wants to achieve improvement of existing products.
