EUREKA PENTA: Automoción, Salud y Producción industrial (Industria 4.0)

PENTA is a new EUREKA Cluster whose purpose is to catalyse research, development and innovation in areas of micro and nanoelectronics enabled systems and applications where there is shared high national and industrial interest. Micro and nanoelectronics has been identified as a Key Enabling Technology for Europe and a cornerstone of key economic and societal developments. At the start of the PENTA programme, the focus of the projects will be on applications in automotive, healthcare and production technologies.
Projects in areas not in the specified core focus areas may be considered, if pre-approved by the relevant Public Authorities that will be supporting such a project.

PENTA was setup to meet the needs of Industry, covering all facets of development - from research (TRL 2) to pilot production or service launch (TRL8).

The programme is therefore:
dedicated to micro and nanoelectronics based components & systems
complementary to but differentiated from the ECSEL Joint Undertaking
supporting projects that can be set up quickly and implemented in a manner that matches the specific needs of the project objectives and the participants
flexible and agile by identifying opportunities, quickly assessing national governmental support and operating with a short, but effective, approval process
focusing on smaller, faster and flexible projects thereby providing an opportunity to quickly take advantage of rapidly developing markets and their related value chains

A fundamental premise of the PENTA Cluster is openness and inclusivity. ‘Openness' is visibly demonstrated at all levels of the Cluster's governance, offering equal opportunities to all interested participants, present and future. ‘Inclusivity' is ensured through a range of activities centred on the creation of a "market place", bringing awareness and open interaction of the capabilities that are available across Europe to the key electronics value chains. A special focus is placed on SME involvement.
